Meaning that both individuals have to put in the amount of effort they’re getting back. If only one person puts effort, they’ll feel like they’re the only one in the relationship. They’ll feel like “If he/she’s not going to put effort, why should I?”. Without any effort in a relationship, it’ll come crashing down.
